The monument to the famous Russian writer Feodor Dostoevsky will be set up in Greece next autumn, REGIONS.ru reports.

Greece archbishop shares activity of Russian public writer’s organization to strengthen spiritual and cultural connexions between the countries. That’s why he willingly agreed to take the monument of the writer from the organization.

Greek and Russian people are tied together by centuries-old friendship and cooperation in different spheres including spiritual and cultural connexions. The establishment of the monument in Greece will be a nice reminder of these relationships, new stage in joint development of the countries.

Russian-Greek literature meeting will be followed by the opening ceremony of the monument. The writers will exchange their experience in literature. The meeting will sure draw them together. This event will become the starting point of new Russian-Greek relationships.

The establishment of the monument has a special value for citizens of Saint-Petersburg. Feodor Dostoevsky lived and created his most fabulous works in the city. There are a lot of places here which are connected with the name of the author. It is said that Dostoevsky never invented his heroes and plots. He took all the events and characters from the newspapers. Now his books are considered as history books (but not the chronicles), because his plots reflect the atmosphere of the time, people’s behavior, their wishes and deeds.

Hope this small connexion will some day become great. Russia is interested not only in cultural cooperation but in joint development of economy and hotel business in particular.
