Construction of pilgrimage complex in Mountain Shoriya underway

The construction of the pilgrimage and culture complex “Alexandria” on the place of the burnt in March of 2007 hotel for pilgrims is now underway in the south of Kemerovo oblast.  

The complex will include the wooden temple of St Knyaz Aleksandr Nevsky, two-storey guesthouse and two history museums, Evgeniy Kobyakov, member of  Kemerovskaya and Novokuznetskaya eparchy press office, reported to the journalist of REGNUM.

The temple with a belfry and a refectory has been designed in traditions of Russian wooden architecture.   It will feature the icon stand embroidered with silk golden threads.

The museum of the Altai religious mission of Kuznetsk will be located on the winding stairs leading to the belfry.  The museum of Russian life history with the exhibits of XIX-XX centuries is supposed to be located in the refectory of the guesthouse.  Every room of the inn will be designed in Russian ancient colorings.

The culture complex will be like a museum under an open sky. It will include traditional outdoor constructions, the garden of collection plants and medicine herbs, sculptures and pavilions.

“The tourists interested in history and culture of  Kemerovo region visiting this place will not only admire the beauty of Mountain Shoriya (South of Kemerovo oblast) but experience the atmosphere of the traditional Russian life, take part in holidays and festivals”, said Vera Bajenova, supervisor of the complex construction process, head of pilgrimage service of “Alexandria”.
