Kirsan Ilyumzhinov erects hotels in forms of chess pieces all over the world

Multi-millionaire Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of Kalmykia and director of the World Chess Association, will build a skyscraper in the form of chess piece in Kiev, NEWSru.com with a link on “Gazeta po-uktainski” (The Ukrainian Newspaper) reported.    

“I hope Kiev won’t reject the project of a skyscraper in the form of a chess queen or knight with 20-30 storeys”, said Ilyumzhinov on arrival to the capital of Ukraine on June 24, “I want to invest $100 million to the construction of the building during year and a half”.

President of Kalmykia erects such establishments in different parts of the world. He is going to invest $2.6 billion to the “chess city” in Dubai.

“32 skyscrapers to be erected on the 74 hectares of land in Dubai”, said Ilyumzhinov, “three star hotels to be in the forms of  pawns, five star hotels – in the forms of castle, bishop and knight, seven star hotels – in the forms of queen and king. An agreement will be inked in a day or two and we will start the construction”.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov already erected the “chess city” in Elista, the capital of Kalmykia. The microdisrtict was named “New-Vasyuk”. Chess pieces skyscrapers were also erected in Tallinn and Seoul.  

“It is impossible to erect such a building in year and a half In Kiev”, said Georgiy Duhnovnichiy, vice president of the architect union, “Signing the agreements on allotment of land alone will take year and a half. The construction of the building will last for another three years. Moreover $100 million are not enough for construction of such a project”.
