The authorities of Kostroma region are in the process of negotiating with the European bank of reconstruction and development and the European investment bank on receiving the credit for construction of the world-class hotel accommodation in the region’s capital, Kostroma. The director of the department of the external economic affairs and interregional cooperation of Kostroma region Maria Shapkina reported Monday Interfax Tourism.

"The negotiations may result in the construction of the hotel of Accor Hotels.  Most likely the hotel will take a brand name “Ibis””, said Shapkina in a statement, “The exact sum of the credit is still not defined, but it will amount to not less than €10mln.”

The hotel industry of Kostroma region develops rapidly. Private hotels prevail on the region’s market. The only chain hotel “Azimut Kostroma” is located in the suburbs of Kostroma (the former hotel “Intourist”).

Lately the investors from other regions of Russia have been showing the interest for hotel construction in Kostroma region. Experts connect the tendency with the appointment of the new governor - Muscovite Igor Slyunyaev.

Now two investment projects are known to be prepared in the sphere of hotel business. The first one will be implemented by the Moscow Company “Svyatya Rus’” (“Holy Russia”). According to company’s project, the hotel will be located nearby Ipat’evsky Temple, on the area of Museum of wooden architecture. The wooden hotel will be created in a Russian style.

Another project of the Moscow Company “Sorochkovsky plyos” has already been approved of the local government. 10 hotel cottages, yacht-club, golf-club, tennis courts and stables will top off the project. The whole complex will be located in the village of Sorochkovo on the embankment of Volga River.

The additional attractiveness to the region gives the fact that it is a small motherland of the famous Russian director Andrew Tarkovsky. Not far from Sorochkovo village the village of Zavrazh’e is situated. The house that was a birthplace of the director still exists there.
