Hotels for people with disabilities to be build in Moscow

Next-Stop.ru | 9 July 2008
The hotels for people with disabilities will be built in Moscow. Moscow government appointed the department of social security to supervise the construction. If earlier such hotel rooms were provided only by high-top hotels of the capital, since now comfortable facilities will be available almost for every capital's guest with disabilites.

The rooms for people with disabilites will be equipped like usual hotel rooms. On the whole they won’t differ much from the standard rooms besides some details.

All the thresholds and borders hampering the motion of a wheelchair will be removed. The sanitary facilities will be positioned much lower than usual.  The rooms will be equipped with shower cabins instead of baths.  Special rails will be installed to facilitate people’s movement. People with disabilities will be also offered special rooms rates.

In the near future 13 active Moscow hotels are expected to have the rooms for people with disabilities. By now there are only 36 specially equipped rooms in the city.  Soon Moscow will be able to accommodate more than 50 people with disabilities per day. The number will be increased in future. Now the common normative standards on specially equipped rooms for hotels being under construction are developed.  The hotels totaling 50 rooms will have to equip 2 rooms for people with disabilities.  Large hotel complexes will have to equip in such a way not less than 3% of the whole number of rooms.
