Travel+Leisure readers voted Four Seasons Hotel George V their favourite hotel in Europe for families in the 2009 World’s Best Awards.

While the City of Lights may not be considered the easiest destination for young children, the hotel decided to prove the contrary by appointing, two years ago, a dedicated in-house Recreations Manager, Claudia Caringi.

This young mother knows like no one else how to treat the younger guests and ensure that they get the best of Paris. From the reservation to the check-out, she makes sure everything is well looked after, so that  the family can enjoy quality time together.

Whether for a special occasion or a first trip with the children, Claudia is delighted to create a personalized itinerary, depending on the child’s interests. Coming for a mother-daughter trip to Paris? How about a “create your own perfume” workshop with a renowned French “nez”.

Fun back of the house tours ending in the hotel’s pastry can also be arranged with her. Fabrice Lecleir, the Pastry Chef is used to having the little ones visit his kitchen and is always happy to have them taste some of his latest creations. On occasions, they are also invited for a pastry workshop and learn how to master the art of “madeleine-making”.

All children receive a small personalised booklet with games, useful french vocabulary, recommendations of children friendly restaurants, a selection of great outings for rainy days or walks around the capital. Museums, walks, French quirks and habits… everything is gathered so as to give the young guests a taste of the Parisian culture.

Upon arrival, children get to pick a welcome gift from a toy-filled basket. They also find special amenities in their room : a selection of fresh goodies, child sized bathrobe and slippers and, for fun in the tub, special animal shaped soaps as well as wooden letters for playtime.

Available as of September 1st, the Spa at the hotel will offer a new Spa package named “My First Beauty Session” where young girls can enjoy their first beauty make up session and receive advice from a professional make up artist.

“With up to 80 children during peak months,  we thought that having a person dedicated to the younger generation would be of great value” indicates Christopher Norton, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the hotel.
