Heliopark Group sells 3 hotels located in the regions of Russia
The hotel company “Heliopark Group” sells some of its assets planning
to strike a bargain with IFC (International Finance Corporation) which
is going to purchase 25% of shares of the group. The following three four-star hotels are up for sale to the investors:
“Heliopark Old Estate” in Pskov, “Heliopark Emmaus” in Tver region and
“Sosnovaya roscha” located not far away from Yalta. The bargain will be concluded officially by the end of the current year.

International Tourism Academy opened subsidiary in Penza
The branch of International Tourism Academy was created in Penza region
of Russia. Scientists, the directors of the largest tourism
organizations of Penza region became the members of the branch.
The academy is going to discover the tourism potential of the region,
work out the tourism development projects and to publish educational
and analytical materials. Different seminars will be held with the
directors of tour agencies and hotels dedicated to analysis of tourism
field of Penza region and development challenges.

Tourism news: ferry tourists may be allowed to spend 3 days without visa in St. Pete
Businesses and officials in St. Petersburg want to propose a law that would allow ferry passengers to spend up to three days in the city without a visa. The northern capital has made a big effort in recent years to attract more tourists, largely under the leadership of Governor Valentina Matviyenko, who has said she hopes to make the city an "open European capital." Now, with added infrastructure and a much bigger tourism budget, St. Petersburg is ready to accommodate the additional visitors, potentially five times the current number, industry leaders and city officials say.

Accor to build hotel in Kostroma
The authorities of Kostroma region are in the process of negotiating
with the European bank of reconstruction and development and the
European investment bank on receiving the credit for construction of
the world-class hotel accommodation in the region’s capital, Kostroma.
The director of the department of the external economic affairs and
interregional cooperation of Kostroma region Maria Shapkina reported
Monday Interfax Tourism. "The negotiations may result in the construction of the hotel of Accor
Hotels. Most likely the hotel will take a brand name “Ibis””, said
Shapkina in a statement, “The exact sum of the credit is still not
defined, but it will amount to not less than €10mln.”

Tender for investors in Anapa
The company “Redon” in cooperation with the company “Miel’-commercial
real estate” will offer the hotel “Bospor” for sale. The hotel worth $6
mln is situated in the city of Anapa, Krasnodar region of Russia. The hotel is located in the historical center of Anapa, in the popular
resort zone “Vysoky bereg”. The whole area of the hotel building is 2.6
ths m2. The hotel includes 44 standard rooms and 7 suites. The hotel also features restaurant, bar, sauna, gym, two conference
halls and two summer verandahs. The hotel has been operating since
2006.

Sovereign Hospitality Holdings investment plan for Russia
The International investment and development company in the sphere of hotel and tourism business Sovereign Hospitality Holdings will invest $1,5 bln into Russian hotel business. The company is also planning to come onto markets of Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan. The amount of investment to every country will be defined when the agreements with the partners are signed. The company doesn’t exclude the investment into Russia will exceed $1.5 bln. The same amount will be invested to Ukraine and Kazakhstan. By the end of 2008 the total investments will be assessed. The company considers managing of hotels, construction of new hotels and purchasing hotel properties.

Quantity of Moscow hotels to double by 2010
According to the research of the company “BusinessVision” there are 220 hotels totaling 35000 rooms in Moscow today. By 2010 the number of hotels is expected to grow by 556 hotels totaling 186473 rooms. Thus the quantity of capital’s hotels is expected to double by the year of 2010. At present middle class hotel accommodations occupy 44 per cent of the Moscow hotel market. High-top hotel accommodations take 26 per cent of the market. The hotels are mainly concentrated in Central and Northeast districts of the city.

IHG will operate two hotels in Nizhny Novgorod
Two hotels of “Clover Group” (Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites) will be operated by Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. This inked a management agreement between Clover Group and IHG, press office of Clover Group reported. Clover group now operates the construction of the multifunctional complex “Clover Citycenter”, located in the historic center of the city – on the Verhny Volhov embankment. Two hotels of IHG will be included in to the complex.

Information centers for tourists to open in Yaroslavl
First information centers for tourists will be created in Yaroslavl Oblast this year, said Galina Krohmal, director of the committee for tourism development of industry, entrepreneurship and transport department of the Yaroslavl region. According to Galina Krohmal, information on hotels, restaurants, museums, entertainment, transport, hotel and other accommodation booking services, excursion and transport reservation will be provided by the centers to the tourists. The centers will be equipped with comfortable facilities of easy-to-use information services: sensor kiosks, Internet access, printed materials. The centers will also include souvenir shops. Some services available will be chargeable, others – free of charge. Information will be provided in different languages.

Rezidor Hotel Group opens subsidiary company in Moscow
Rezidor Hotel Group of companies opens its representative office in Moscow in order to ease the operation of its hotels in Russia, CIS, Baltic Sea countries and Turkey. The office will also be responsible for Rezidor expansion in Russia. RHG is the only international hotel chain to have the representative office in Russia (in other words, the subsidiary).

Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) is now trying to find out the reasons for
price jump in Petersburg hotels during the International Economic Forum. Yesterday Valentina Matvienko, the Governor of Saint-Petersburg, said the hotels shouldn’t make
use of tourists’ influx to the city. The governor appointed the agency
to check the situation.

In 2003 the Association of Small Hotels of St. Petersburg was opened with the goal of promoting the services of small hotels on the hotel market. This is probably the first professional association of mini-hotels in St. Petersburg. Today the association unites the majority of mini-hotels of the city.
